 | Consider this your official "Happy Halloween" from me! The holiday falls during the week and I know that many people are celebrating this weekend, so if you're looking for the perfect drinks to embellish your party, I have done my best to gather those up right here. Also this week, I announced the winning apple cocktail and it is perfect for the fall season. Congratulations goes out to Sam Hernandez and I want to thank everyone who participated. This was one of my favorite collections yet. The recipes and results are below. Cheers! Cocktail of the Week: Devil's Handshake A snap of ginger adds a nice dimension to this otherwise tame tequila cocktail that also includes pineapple, lime, and an egg white for a great texture. | New Halloween Cocktails
Halloween is almost here and I'm excited to share the newest cocktails in the spooky libation collection. I think that this is one of the best holidays for cocktails because your imagination is your only limit to how you can adapt any cocktail to fit the theme. - Fright Night in the Grove – Spirited? Most definitely! This drink pairs the notorious Jagermeister with tequila and grapefruit. It is actually quite good.
- Sinister Spirit – Add a little orange and pineapple to a mix with UV Peach Vodka and amaretto and you have this easy and satisfying libation.
- Vampire’s Kiss – Midori is almost essential for creating a great Halloween cocktail and in this one the glowing liqueur is paired with Skyy Blood Orange Vodka, pineapple, and cream, but it is the dripping, blood-like grenadine that sets it over the top.
- Wake the Dead – Serve this one as a shot or sip it. Either way, it will certainly wake the dead. It is a tequila shot meets espresso shot drink and it is not tame in either effect or flavor.
- Zombie’s Brew – Using Three Olives Tartz, one of those fun, new candy-like vodkas, this is a simple and tasty lemonade drink perfect for any party.
| Haunting Halloween Cocktails | Apple Cocktail Contest Winner: Candy Appley
Take a little moonshine, some fruits, add a little sparkle, and serve it up in a coconut-induced glass and you have this great drink that took top honors in last month's cocktail contest. It is ideal for this season and here are the full results: - Candy Appley - Sam Hernandez shared this great drink that mixes XXX Salted Caramel Corn Whiskey with apple liqueur, cranberry, and sparkling cider, but I believe it was the unique coconut rim that really set it over the top.
- Apple Gnac Attack - What a great name for a cocktail! This one from Mari Howe and Michael Soo includes Cognac, pear liqueur, apple and lemon juices, and ginger. It is a perfect cocktail for fall.
- Golden Delicious Cocktail - Blair Frodelius of Good Spirits News has another impressive drink. It begins with calvados and apple juice with cinnamon liqueur, but when he starts this typical mix off with a little mint muddling, things get really interesting.
| Pear Cocktail Contest
This Sunday is the deadline to submit your recipe to the pear cocktail contest. You can use any pear ingredient, which could be anything from the fresh fruit to a liqueur, syrup, nectar or whatever else you can devise. Have fun and submit your recipe before it's too late. | |
