About

From Amanda Rock, your About Parenting Editor
Sure, Halloween is a week away, but for my family, the celebrating starts this weekend with a pair of parties and a parade. Not to mention the school celebrations on Monday and Wednesday. So while we technically have seven days until our costumes are "due," we really need something much, much sooner than that. (And then there is the matter of the Halloween candy that I bought, and then ate.)

Easy DIY Costumes for Kids
If your little one is having trouble deciding what to wear for Halloween, or maybe he wants to save his costume for the real day and dress up as something else for the events leading up to the 31st (my preschooler for example), Laureen has some great ideas for quick costumes that you can put together on the fly.

Fun Halloween Dinner Recipes
My favorite part of Halloween? Whipping up a spooky, themed meal for the kids. Stephanie's got some awesome ideas and recipes for an awesome dinner that might even be as appealing as all that candy!

Halloween Movies to Watch Together
My kids also love the week leading up to Halloween because there are a ton of great shows on tv, plus they get to pull out all of our spooky-themed DVDs to watch. If you are looking for a way to get into the Halloween spirit, try some of these recommendations from Carey.

Alternative Halloween Treats
So as I mentioned above, I might have eaten the Halloween candy I was meant to hand out. Oops. I could buy more, but since I've already demonstrated my complete lack of self-control, I should probably stick to these non-candy treats.
