Ah, summertime seems to be slipping away, but we're not done yet! There are a number of summery drinks included here this week and this month's cocktail contest is celebrating one of the best drinks of the season (more on that below).
In doing a little housekeeping this week, I decided that it was time, once again, to share the method to my organizational madness when it comes to the cocktail recipes on About.com. The second entry below will lead you to a list of pages where you can find cocktails by listed spirit, ingredient, flavor, season, and occasion. If, at any time, you are looking for a recipe and cannot find it, email me and I'll do my best to help.
Also, August will be review month. I have a stock pile of new spirits and books that I'll be reviewing throughout the month. I think you will really enjoy them because I can honestly say that I've not had a bad drink lately and I'm excited to share these great finds with you.
Cocktail of the Week: Yaka Hula Hickey Dula
This is a very fun drink because, while it may be simple, you get to say its name every time you serve it or someone asks what you're drinking. Actually, the drink is easier to remember than the name: equal parts of dark rum, dry vermouth, and pineapple juice. It's quite delicious and one of our reviewers graciously included the words to the song. Get the recipe
