From Erik Wander, your About Food Editor
Labor Day has come and gone, and with it, the unofficial end of summer. Kids are back in school, days are getting shorter and that old familiar chill in the air signals the inevitable onset of autumn. Lamenting the all too quick passing of another summer season is only natural, but starting to plan what you're going to be cooking over the next few months can be reinvigorating. The mere thought of the delicious flavors of fall is reason enough to celebrate.

Perfectly Pleasing Pumpkin Recipes
Whether it's pie, pizza, scones, soup or a variety of other dishes you're dying to make now that it's autumn, try making them with the squash most Americans most closely identify with fall. You don't even have to wait until Halloween or Thanksgiving, which, yes, believe it or not, are just around the corner. But if you are planning to serve pumpkin-based dishes then, why not practice them now?

This Autumn Try Thai
With the North American fall comes a wide variety of delicious, colorful produce perfect for whipping up whatever culinary wonders you can imagine, even Thai food. Try combining pumpkin and peppers with curry and coconut milk, and you'd be surprised how many different spicy, tangy Thai soups and other season-appropriate meals you can make.

Doing Dairy-Free Fall Dishes
A lot of the foods we tend to favor during the fall are hearty, even heavy, rich in carbs and therefore pretty satisfying on cold autumn evenings. But that also means a lot of them call for lots of butter, cream or milk. Try some of these dairy-free desserts, pumpkin and potato recipes, and enjoy eating like it's autumn.
