From Christina Donnelly, your About Pets Editor
Every January, many of us resolve to be healthier in the New Year; but what about your pets' health? It's so incredibly important to keep your pets' health in check—because what pet owner doesn't want their furry family members to live long, happy and healthy lives?

Heartworm in Dogs
Heartworm is common in dogs, but it's very easy to prevent—as long as dog parents make sure to buy and administer the proper heartworm medication. Whether you're new to dog ownership or just need a little reminder, I recommend taking a few minutes to read about heartworm prevention and treatment. It could save Fido's life!

Horse Joint Health
It's no surprise that horses often suffer from joint pain or arthritis, and it's almost unavoidable as a horse ages. But with the correct information on causes, symptoms and treatment, you can provide the proper care to your arthritic horse.

Avoiding Veterinary Parasites
Essentially every kind of pet can be affected by parasites—and many of them can be passed on to pet owners, too. Learn about the different parasites that can affect your pets—from pooches, to cats, to aquarium fishies—so you know which signs and symptoms to keep on your radar.

Spay or Neuter Your Cat
Not only does spaying or neutering your cat prevent overpopulation, but it can keep your feline friend healthy, too. Neutered male cats are far less likely to fight or develop "stud tail" and spayed female cats have decreased risks of mammary, ovarian and uterine cancer. Not sure where to start? We've got tons of information on why, how and when to spay or neuter.
