From Chad Bowar, your About Music Editor
May is here, and as the weather heats up, so does the new music. Our music experts take a look at the month's new and upcoming releases.

Classic Rock May Music Menu
Depending on the day, looking back at the music of the classic rock era can make me happy to have been there, or unsure of how I feel about being old enough to have been there. You'll be pleased to know that this month's releases are pretty much making me happy.

New Blues Albums: May 2014
This month doesn't bring the wealth of new releases that April showered on us, but anytime you get to hear new music from Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Ian Siegal, and John Mayall can't be all bad! Throw in new albums by Eden Brent and Al Basile, a promising debut by Jarekus Singleton, and archive releases from Washboard Sam and Catfish Hodge and no matter your taste in blues, here's what you'll be listening to in May.

Tune Yard - 'Nikki Nack' Review
"Oh my God I use my lungs!" Merrill Garbus hollers, mid song-of-the-year contender "The Real Thing," the dame behind Tune-Yards giving her thanks ("Bless my lungs! Bless my lungs!") for being able to sing. It's the standout song on her remarkable third album, Nikki Nack, an anthem that at once manages to be ironic ("Glory, glory, it's good to be me!" she snarks) yet entirely inspiring.

Edguy - 'Space Police: Defenders of the Crown' Review
After releasing a new Avantasia album last year, the prolific Tobias Sammet put on his Edguy hat, and the band's latest effort is Space Police: Defenders of the Crown. It's their 11th studio album. The band's power metal roots are on display on songs like the soaring opening track "Sabre & Torch" that has crisp guitars and catchy melodies. As usual, Sammet has written songs packed with hooks that embed themselves in your brain.
