About

From Amanda Rock, your About Parenting Editor
We have a lot of rules in our house, but to me the most important one is Golden: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Simple, but important. Teaching kids about being kind to others isn't something you can do in a day or by reading books -- it's setting a good example through your words and deeds.

Teaching Kids Kindness
Some may feel that kindness isn't something that can be taught, that it is just a character trait that develops over time. But I think that kindness is sometimes something we need to work at. Katherine explains how to teach kids about being kind and why it is so important.

Help Your Children Volunteer
One of the best ways to teach kindness is to simply let your kids see you being kind. Volunteering in your community is a great way to do that. Katherine explains how to get started.
