The Best (and Not So Much)

 Videogames

From Niko Silvester, your About Video Games Editor

It's another week of miscellaneous cool gaming stuff on About's videogaming sites. Brian tackles the huge number of LEGO videogames to pick out the five best (for PlayStation consoles, anyway), while Michael does the same for an even larger number of free-to-play PC games. Charles details how easy it would be for Nintendo to take the lead in better representing female gamers in its games (without somehow pushing male gamers aside), and Eric finds the latest 'Transformers' game had potential it didn't live up to (kind of like the movies). Plus, Nadia has a fun 3DS cheat, and Brittany reviews 'Sonic.'

Covering everything from PS2 to PS4, this article picks out the five best of the bunch. READ NOW

Brian picks out his top 10 for PC, and includes information on what you might need to pay for, once you've exhausted the free parts. READ NOW

Nintendo: Lettings Girls Be Girls

There has been a lot of discussion about sexism in videogames in the media lately, with many gamers calling for more inclusive games that don't make female gamers feel left out. Charles thinks that Nintendo has the potential to lead in the realm of gender choice -- not by making games for girls, but by making games that let women and girls feel represented alongside men and boys. 'Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark' Review (XONE)

The latest 'Transformers' game attempts to integrate the earlier games and the recent movies, but Eric says that can't really hide the fact that it is very much a movie tie-in, complete with shoddy, hurried construction. The worst part, though, is that it has hints of something better, making it all the more disappointing. READ NOW
