From Colleen Graham, your Guide to Cocktails

Well, here we go... the unofficial end to summer for many of us. The Labor Day weekend is upon us and many Americans will be reminiscing their summer adventures over the barbecue, getting in one last pool party or camping adventure, or simply soaking up some rays. Sure, there the calendar says that we still have a few weeks of summer left, but this weekend always feels like the end.

However, it's not over yet and I've packed this issue with drinks to keep the summer alive. Have a safe and happy weekend, Cheers!

Cocktail of the Week: Spiked Hawaiian
Spike Hawaiian

Tequila and beer, it's like peanut butter and jelly. Some things just go together splendidly and this Spiked Hawaiian brings these two together in perfect harmony, yet that's not all the drink has. The tequila is first infused with a smoked chile pepper - a quick, 90-minute infusion - which is then mixed with pineapple and celery juices, then it is topped off with Indio Beer. The result is a unique beer drink with so much flavor that you soon forget that beer's involved. Get the recipe...

Get It While It's Fresh
Prairie Refresh

Possibly the best part of summer is the abundance of fresh produce and it is always fun to bring this aspect into drinks. One of the fruits that is really hard to find any other time of the year is watermelon and this new recipe, the Prairie Refresh, is another fantastic use for it. The drink mixes cucumber vodka with fresh melon, agave nectar, and lime, so it is very easy. Also, the vodka of choice here is from Prairie Organic and, by choosing the right produce, you can retain the organic nature through the entire drink. Get the recipe...

It's Margarita Time
Pomegranate Margarita

I don't think we could say goodbye to summer without a great margarita or two and there's a margarita for everyone. Some are simple mixes like the original Margarita that requires just three ingredients, others like the Pomegranate Margarita mix a couple of fruits together, and still others like the Prankster Margarita get a little crazy, bringing things like absinthe and tarragon into the mix. It is an interesting collection of drinks and I've topped 40 different recipes in it, so, like I said, there's really something for everyone. Browse the collection...
