From Colleen Graham, your Guide to Cocktails

Autumn in America means many things and among them is that great tradition of football and the tailgating parties that come along with almost every game. This week's edition is dedicated to the game day drinkers and I've thrown in a number of beer drinks to give you some ideas for breaking out of the beer bottle routine.

As promised, I have also opened up our latest cocktail contest. The theme is Tea Cocktails and my only requirement is that one of your ingredients include the flavor of tea, so there are endless possibilities with this one. We're also temporarily switching up the submission format, so be sure to read carefully and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Best of luck!

Cocktail of the Week: Bohemia Limeaid
Bohemia Limeaid

The margarita meets a creamy Mexican beer in this new drink recipe from Bohemia Beer. It's light, refreshing, and tall enough to get you through a quarter or two of the game. It uses just an ounce of beer per drink, so it's perfect for mixing up a round for everyone to enjoy. Get the recipe...

Jalisco High Tea

The cocktail contests are back and we're starting the season out with an easy theme. For September, I'm looking for your original drink recipes that use tea in one way or another. Iced tea, hot tea, tea-flavored spirits and mixers, all are up for grabs in this month's contest. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to show off.

An important note: The format of the contests has changed temporarily as we are making a few more transitions at About.com. Until further notice, I'll be taking recipes via email and you can get all of the details on the contest page.

The Joy of Mixing with Beer
Burnt Oranges

Beer is great, but it's also a great mixer and if you're bored with simply popping the cap of your favorite beer, try it in one of these mixed drinks. The list includes a few shandy recipes, the always popular layered beers, and some interesting mixes like this Burnt Oranges recipe, which mixes Guinness with rum, blood orange, and lemon. It's Time for a Tailgate Party
Burnt Oranges

Football season means that it is also time for a tailgating party. You have the cooler filled with beer and soda, the grill's in the truck, and you're donning the team colors, so you're set, right? Maybe, though you may also want to check out this article with a collection of alternative drinks, some great tailgate-worthy foods, and other tips for maximizing your game day party experience.
