From Tim Hyland, your About Spectator Sports Editor
Last Sunday, Phil Mickelson delivered one of the most clutch rounds in the history of golf to win the British Open.

It was a stunning performance on one of golf's biggest stages, and was all the more impressive for the fact that the Open was the one tournament that everyone--even Mickelson himself--had always said was probably beyond his skill set.

But now, Phil has his Claret Jug, and his fifth career major, too. Which raises the question: Where does he rank among golf's all-time greats? We'll ask that question here, in this week's About.com Spectator Sports Newsletter.

After winning the 2013 British Open, Phil Mickelson now has 42 career PGA Tour wins, including five major championships. Those are big, big numbers, particularly in this, the deepest era in golf history. Is Mickelson won of the 10 best golfers of all-time?
