From Colleen Graham, your Guide to Cocktails

Are you ready for the World Cup finals this weekend? Saturday will be the semi-final match between Brazil and the Netherlands and Sunday the Germany and Argentina meet in the finals. To celebrate, I've found a cocktail for each team that features the liquor each country is most famous for. It's a fun line-up of drinks for a great round of games. Enjoy and Cheers!

Germany: Surfer On Acid
Surfer on Acid

When you think German liqueur, I hope that Jagermeister comes to mind and the Surfer on Acid is a drink that most everyone will enjoy. Even if you are not a fan of the potent liqueur, this mix of Jager, coconut rum, and pineapple is easy and quite good. Get the recipe...

Argentina: Problem Solver
Problem Solver Cocktail

A little trivia for you: The Italian apertif Fernet-Branca is also produced at a second distillery in Argentina. It is also extremely popular in the country and one of my favorite cocktails is the Problem Solver. Though Fernet is only used as a rinse in this recipe, it makes a great difference and is an essential contrast to the sweeter notes of rye whiskey, Cherry Heering, and Benedictine. Get the recipe...

Brazil: Chi-Town Consolation Caipirinha
Chi-town Caipirinha Cocktail

The obvious drink of choice for the host country would be the Caipirinha, but I'd also like to share a variation that is perfect for berry season. Appropriately, the Chi-Town Consolation Caipirinha was created when Chicago lost the bid to host the 2016 Olympics to, you guessed it, Brazil. The drink mixes Brazil's cachaca with fresh blackberries, lime, and mint and it is great. Get the recipe...

Netherlands: Rembrandt Cocktail
Rembrandt Cocktail

The fanciest of these mixes goes to the Dutch and celebrates their love for genever as well as one of their most prolific artists. This cocktail is as beautiful as a Rembrandt painting and is a delicate mixture of Bols Genever, Galliano, citrus, egg white, and wild hibiscus. Get the recipe...
